TEFL, TESOL and CELTA are two acronyms that are widely used in the field of teaching English as a foreign language. Essentially, all of the three terms refer to English teaching qualifications. TEFL stands for Teaching English as a Foreign Language and is most commonly used in Europe and Australia. TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and is more commonly used in North America. CELTA stands for Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults and is awarded by Cambridge English Language Assessment.
