Where is Mount Kilimanjaro?

Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano that is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the most recognizable natural landmarks in the world. Since it was first climbed in 1889, the mountain has become a hugely popular destination for adventurers from all over the world, with many thousands of visitors completing the long trek to the summit every year. As well as trekking, the 1,668 km² of the national park offers many other popular activities, including wildlife spotting in the unique environments that exist at different altitudes on the mountain slopes. The mountain is only an hour away from Kilimanjaro International Airport and is within reach of other popular attractions in Tanzania, such as Lake Chala and the Serengeti National Park.
