The national recreation area around Chattahoochee River makes for the ideal place for water sports enthusiasts. The river features various campsites along its 48-mile-long shore that make for the ideal getaway in all seasons. On Georgia’s southeastern Atlantic Coast, Cumberland Island National Seashore is a great location boasting fine beaches, dunes, freshwater lakes and picturesque marshes perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of the city.
Georgia boasts various historic landmarks and sites perfect for history fans looking for unique attractions. Whether you are looking for Civil War attractions, heritage, and history museums, historic homes or unique trails and tours, Georgia has got you covered. The Old Governor’s Mansion is a perfect example of Greek Revival architecture in Georgia. The mansion was home to Georgia governors from 1839 to 1868 and played an important role in several historic events. Another outstanding historic attraction is Old Fort Jackson on the banks of the Savannah River. The fort was constructed in 1808 and has served as an important fortification to fire canons on any vessel coming to the Savannah River. Today, it is the oldest standing brick fortification in Georgia.
Adventurers will find that Georgia offers just the right amount of thrill for anyone’s taste. If you are brave enough, you can try out activities like rock climbing, hang gliding, motorcycling, skydiving or zip lining throughout the state.
